Click hereThere is one last hurdle
There is one last cry
If I can make it through this song
Then I can truly say goodbye
If it doesn’t hurt my heart , If I’m left with a grin
Remembering the laughter and of course delicious sin
The song is over and my eyes are dry
We had our moment and a sweet good-bye
This is such a good poem, the last line makes me sad. A moment that lives in the mind. When are goodbyes easy? I had one recently and I still can’t listen to the song. One day I’ll make it through that last hurdle. Always, thank you for sharing!
Music takes us back
To places in the past
Friends and erstwhile lovers
Feelings that could not last
Passion that was too intense
Destined only for a season
Before things came between
Sometimes without a reason
It’s better to have loved and lost
I’ve often heard it said
But ghosts of past loves often visit
When you are alone in your bed
Business left unfinished
Words too left unsaid
But memories can be so unkind
When they replay in your head
>Title
My thoughts on the title is that typically most songs that people draw a lot of attention to are songs that remind them of someone they lost or had to let go of.
>Reading first few lines
The first four lines have a fairly basic rhyme scheme of 1232, but we've all wanted to rhyme cry or goodbye. I personally have rhymed some words maybe a dozens times in a dozen poems.
So far it makes me think of like a last dance for a last date or maybe a couple breaking up at something like a prom...
>Reading further
But as I read further, there might be some kind of never being able to finish a song because it's "their song" or "our song". Perhaps the person cries each time they listen and can't finish it.
I am sitting here thinking about this poem. Tempted to write two poems of my own.
If it actually is possible for two people to separate and not only... not be mad at each other... But also to not cry... To actually not regret having met each other... To not want to erase all the memories.
I think that is a beautiful thing. A sign of two mature people... A sign of someone emotionally mature and strong.
But perhaps it's because the romance or what it was, but a moment?
>Score
Well, it's very short and punchy, unlike my overly long and rambling poems... And I've been given so much to think about so 5 out 5... I should favorite this.
