- Let me preface all of this by reminding you that this is meant for beginners, mostly because that is just the type of content I'm making and also I'm not that fucking good at the game. If you can do better, that's super cool, and I really don't give a shit. There's been many videos showing people fighting Tigrex, probably better than you, it doesn't matter. This fight with LS is dumb, good luck.
There are three main things you want to look out for, using your fade slash, the first move of your spirit combo, and the first triangle hit. You need to learn the timings and positionings for these three things, and anything else you do is just extra.
When he's turning towards you, face him so that you're to the left of his face, and you fade slash to his left (your right) you always want to be on his left side, because most of his moves are the safest on that side. If you fade slash that direction, you should be able to avoid his double bite, hopefully, and his point blank charge (so dumb) if he does that. If he does a regular bite, you might get hit by his left hand (so dumb.....) If he does the rock push move, you should be safe, I don't think his left hand has any hitbox.
If you're able to, poke at his tail and use the first R spirit gauge move, hit his head as he turns towards you. The timing is very tight, but this is important to get. Use this when you have spirit gauge, if you can, but even if you don't, it's a good move to use. Try and position yourself so you can roll forward under his left arm, or to his left side, for the same reasons as above. You don't want to get stuck in a combo, if you do the triangle move and don't do a R spirit attack soon enough, you just wont be able to do it, which can throw you off. If you do your circle move, you seem to have more time to wait to do the R move, so you can time it out easier.
And finally, when he does his spin move. It's actually relatively safe in front of him. What you want to do is try to time yourself running towards him right as his left arm spins around, you shouldn't be hit by anything other than the wind pressure if you do this right. And then, right as you see the snow beneath him poof up, you should press triangle. This should prevent you from being staggered by the wind, though if you are, you should have enough time to escape, hopefully, just roll to his left side like always.

Whichever, the second video goes into detail and explains the moves and all that, though it's one of the old style of videos. Not a huge fan of videos with just music and usually bad pacing. It's just not my thing.

Both have discord servers! If you want to play online, I recommend Amultios since its easier to connect than Hunterverse. Problem is that sometimes, all 24 guild halls get full.

Maybe I misunderstood something but if people seriously trash talk you for your gameplay I'd like to take the time to encourage you.
I saw videos of people hunting monsters flawlessly in record time. It's quite impressive and I left a comment here and there stating just that. Yet I'm not subbed to any of these people, because I rarely enjoy watching the hunts. To me (!) the gameplay just isn’t fun to watch because I can't relate to it...my hunts sure as hell don't look like that.
No, my hunts look more like yours. That's why I'm excited to watch them! I too have highs and lows. Sometimes I play out of my mind and have a flawless hunt but then there are times where I can't catch a break and I make mistakes.
I applaud you for having the guts to show a raw hunt. As a viewer I can get excited when you're low on health...I can wonder "Oh will he make it?". I'm sure you have the capability to do every hunt flawless but I personally just find it much more enjoyable when you show that there can be a struggle.
I remember reading the description of another one of your videos where you said "monster XY is tough and you may cart a lot but as long as you keep trying you'll improve and you're already a winner for not giving up".
Anyway I just think you should keep doing what you’re doing now. I find your guides very enjoyable to watch.
Also seeing that Daimyo (?) set made me so nostalgic...I remember walking around with it back in the day for quite a long time. :D

I do like the idea of keeping in my failures, because yeah, I want people to know and understand that failure is going to happen, it might even happen a lot lol, it's a good thing to regularize and not make it such a scary thing, I feel that a lot myself, still working on it. Failure can be upsetting and frustrating, but it's necessary, no one's a master on their first attempt at anything... I guess my reaction to this fight is proof of that, and I guess, in a way, it's good to show that, I hope 😅😅
And I don't want to dwell on it much but the MH community has always felt very... impenetrable to me, I guess, as well as very elitist. Something about this game and talking about it with others kind of puts me on edge, and I don't know why because it's a co-op game, but people often feel the need to get competitive in it and I just feel like it's unnecessary, but they're not me, of course lol. I'm getting better with it I think lol. I'm definitely making these to help people, it can just be annoying when people are.... difficult... lol, it's always annoying when people say "oh yeah, that's easy" ... like... ugh, lol. I try to strike a balance of being human and approachable but also tempering myself and keeping from saying anything too damning, I suppose.
I dunno if it's a bit of hubris to say or think, but I'd like to think I can help bridge the gap somewhat for newer players, because even someone like me who's been with the game for years... like I said it feels very hard or even impossible to get into, one of my friends have told me he'll probably never play the game because he always feels like people would be critical of how he plays, and I feel that 100%. Honestly I can absolutely relate to the frustration you must've felt getting stunlocked to death. The two things that make me scream in MH are;
1) Having to run after the monster for days because it snorted some frenzy-virus-cocaine or something and just wont hold still. - (Then again I wouldn't wanna hold still either if a hunter tried to insert a greatsword shaped suppository in my ass.)
2) Getting stunlocked to death with one combo and not seeing any window of opportunity to recover.
Sure one can argue if you get cornered it's your own fault for bad positioning. And I would agree with that statement but it just feels infuriatingly bad to play (especially in your example here where that part of the map gives not a lot of room to maneuver). You still set a good example by not just blaming the game and saying "these things happen" and by actually giving helpful advice stating "here is a way you can reduce the chance of this happening to you".
The community well...yeah I had bad experiences too. Reminds me a bit of the (Dark) Souls community. Don't get me wrong there are good and helpful people (like yourself) in every community but it gets tiresome if you have to ravage through sewage every time you wanna share something/need advice for something. There is a reason the Souls community is known for the "git good" meme.
It's a good question; why the elitism? You played the game, you enjoyed it...don't you wanna help other players have a good experience too?
The funniest thing is; top players/speedrunners/content creators are rarely dicks when asked for advice. Makes you wonder who those people are who spout "git gud scrub"? More often than not loudmouths who don't perform much better (if even) than the average (from my experience anyway).
Anyway do continue the way you have. I think you are a positive influence on this community and I'd be excited if you one day maybe even would do a commentary over your hunts.

I counted 7 hits... I just did a hunt where I got hit 7 times by the spin attack alone... I'd say that was a pretty good and certainly above average hunt. And your whole video series is really helpful to me getting into these older MH games that I never played before. Thank you.

I farmed eager cleaver just for plesioth (because playing on a phone sucks ass) and who knew I'd use it for tigrex, and finally killed him after years of putting it aside. This channel is amazing man, seriously. Thanks for the guides

I commend you for being able to beat Tigrex with a LS in general, I would never even attempt it.
If people are really trash talking you over your gameplay they need a fuckin' life, you're very experienced at this game and it's evident by your footage that you have a deep understanding of the monster and hunter movesets. Just because you don't play flawlessly like a bot doesn't mean your gameplay aint good, anyone who says otherwise is too up their own ass to value the opinions and varying skill levels of anyone but themselves.

I guess I was just mostly upset from Tigrex lol, but yeah... there's this looming feeling from the MH community of elitism and gatekeeping, and I want to have my little corner/community be safe from that, because it's not helpful to new players if they feel like they can't even play without being judged or something right? lol it's a co-op game, it should be more lighthearted IMO

I thought LS is the most viable weapon to use against tigrex, was it not?
Never knew that you actually made a video about Tigrex fought with LS, neat. I know there are ways you can fight Tiggy with it, but not without using traps or Flash Bombs. I actually tried fighting this guy thing before with Eager Cleaver back then when i still don't know how to properly use a GS, but *damn* i can't land hits for shit without getting charged back in return, even worse when it enters rage, one mistake and it's lights out. The fact that you managed to pull this off is already a feat on it's own.
Yeahh lol, I wouldn't recommend using LS against Tigrex. I know it's possible, especially in MP, but since fighting him in G-Rank, my go to will always be to recommend using the lance 😅

Yeah, Tigrex is honestly just awful in 2nd gen lol.
I recommend using a Lance to deal with him tbh, if he wants to charge at you non stop, you can just hold up your shield and say "No." and Tigrex is legally unable to damage you. Bring power/mega juice too though.

Getting combo'd to death is why I always bring the cat. It's nice to have the aggro off of you every once in a while, ESPECIALLY against tigrex. Tho I admit bringing the cat can sometimes f you up.

I specifically don't use cats for my videos, but I always recommend people bring them if they want, and/or to use different gear and bring more items if they want to, like traps n stuff etc.

Thats the reason why always use a weapon that can block like the Lance, SnS, and the Greatsword.
I mean the LS is easy to dodge Tigrex move but except the roar sadly even I try multiple times.

Yeah, I can roll through the roar sometimes, but it's just not consistent enough, both for me and to recommend others to do it. If he would only roar when first seeing you or entering rage, it would be much fairer, though this series has a couple of mechanics that kind of speak to them not designing it with fairness in mind.
I understand the game is designed around being co-operative, but still, I don't think stun is a good mechanic, and I don't think monster roars should lead into an attack, but I guess that's much less of an issue with earplugs. You could get skills to negate stun too, but it's much less worth it. I do gem it in in MHW though since the skill system is way easier to use in that one lol

It's the unsheathe spirit combo 1, you can do it by pressing R+Triangle+Circle

Yeah, in my previous runs before this I got a couple of tail cuts. I just wanted to get it done though tbh, was trying to focus more on finishing the hunt, but you can definitely get a few hits on the tail at the beginning when Tigrex is still slow and lethargic lol
Is there any indication that tigrex are hungry?
Cuz everytime I hunt tiggy, I start placing the meat when he's drooling but he didn't eat it
In MHFU there's not really a way to tell, as far as I know.
The wiki just says "After about 10-15 minutes of fighting" he'll get hungry and eat meat that you put down.
I haven't used meat much, but I'll try and figure it out if I can.
Typically you want to not be seen by the monster before you put the meat down, Tigrex and Congalala will eat even after they've seen you, but yeah.
Can I use bone katana dragon for this fight it's the main long sword I use
I'd highly recommend you get Eager Cleaver instead, or at the very least upgrade to Bone Katana "Dragon"

Somehow I managed to knock Tigrex off balance with True Devil Slicer in a high rank guild quest. I spam that again and again with the help of shock traps and I killed Tigrex without losing my cool.

Hey xd it's me, I was playing with the black katana like xd from the 2* missions but how I obtain the material to level up that katana? (I have in the same point that you have but I can't obtain the other type of wing of hornetaur)
Hey 🙂 I'm assuming you mean the upgrade from Black Katana Mk.II to Black Katana Mk.III
The HornetaurInnrWng (Hornetaur Inner Wing) is a high rank material, so you get them from high rank hornetaurs.
You can get high rank gathering quests from the gathering hall, here's a low rank guild quest overview:

And then once you've cleared that I have some other videos showing how to clear some of the other high rank stuff. It's what I'm currently working on for MHFU videos.
You could also just go to the high rank quests from Nekoht, but there are no gathering quests there, you just have to take a quest in an area with Hornetaurs and get materials and clear the quest normally (or triple cart)
I'd say don't worry about it right now, just upgrade other weapon types, remember I recommend weapons for each monster I make a video on, though not all are longswords, I use the info in this guide all the time for that:

Honestly, it went a lot better than this one haha, it's probably my preferred method of hunting Tigrex in this game, but I've gone through a few weapon types, and there's not really a wrong answer, all things considered 😊

I've done all of the quests in the game without a palico. Using a palico can make things a little easier and I'd recommend it.

Black Katana Mk.II is a separate upgrade path from Eager Cleaver.
You can get earplugs from the Garuga set.
Do any quest to kill any kut-ku.

Capturing will definitely be safer, ending the quest faster means you have less of a chance to die from something.
Have evade +2 skill and you can evade towards tiggy's charge.
You mind telling me how you plan on getting Evade+2 for all of the newer players that this video is meant for?
@@HeadHunter455 it's been long years since I have played the game. But as much as I remember the obituary set can give you evade +2 skill. The other one is black fatalis set but that's in end game already.

I just know the animations and timings pretty well, there's a lot of overlap from other monsters in this game, they move somewhat rigidly so it's easier than in later games to know where their body parts are going to be and when.

I farmed the Rathalos a lot and I almost completed my Rathalos armor set!
