Originally he came to me wanting a more Egyptian themed version of himself, but after I expressed my interest in more of a roman type interpretation, he asked me to do him as a gladiator.
For those of you who've known me for awhile, you know I'm partial to these types of fighters, the 'samnite' class of gladiators especially. Though Max's garb and Armour I put him in is drastically different then what you'd normally see a samnite in (the helmet without a cover the most obvious difference) I tried to keep the as true as possible to it otherwise.

OMG Boz!! What an INCREDIBLE job you did I love the amazing amount of detail you put into this portrait for me I wasn't sure what to expect when we discussed a piece from my gladiator years, but I really love everything about it! I mean, WOW! Ripped bear is ripped and stuff
Very cool pose too - I'm trying recall whom I was battling during this contest, but it will come back to me, I'm sure. I'm gonna have to dig out my old armor too as this bringing back memories of the old days
